**New Delhi:** The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed the Delhi High Court on Monday that their investigation into the deaths of three civil service aspirants in a coaching centre basement in July is ongoing.

The investigation, which was transferred to the CBI from the Delhi Police in August, focuses on potential negligence by statutory officials, including those from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), and Fire Department.

The CBI has already filed a chargesheet against six individuals in the case, but continues to investigate the role of MCD, DJB, and Fire Department officials. The agency informed the court that they are scrutinizing documents obtained during searches and seizures.

The High Court, which had ordered the CBI to complete the investigation in a timely manner, directed the agency to file a fresh status report within four weeks.

The court also ordered the Delhi government and the MCD Commissioner to submit their reports on the incident. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for November 6.

This incident, which occurred in July, saw three aspiring civil servants drown in the basement of a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar. The incident sparked outrage, prompting the High Court to transfer the investigation to the CBI and order a comprehensive review of the city’s infrastructure and safety measures.
