Tue Oct 08 13:41:16 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal Challenges Modi: Free Electricity in 22 States for BJP Campaign Support
**New Delhi, October 6, 2024:** Delhi’s former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has issued a bold challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, offering to campaign for the BJP if Modi implements free electricity in all 22 states governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Kejriwal, who was recently released on bail after being arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor scam, accused the BJP of failing to deliver on its promises during its 10-year tenure. He questioned the party’s achievements and urged Modi to focus on improving people’s lives before he turns 75 in 2025.
“If Modi implements free electricity in all 22 states governed by the NDA, I will campaign for the BJP,” said Kejriwal, adding that “double engine” governments were synonymous with “double loot”, referring to the BJP’s control of both the state and central governments in some states.
He criticized the “double engine” government’s performance in Uttar Pradesh, claiming it had failed across all sectors, and highlighted the lack of development in Manipur and Haryana despite having BJP-led governments. Kejriwal predicted the BJP’s downfall in Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra, citing growing public dissatisfaction.
Kejriwal also expressed confidence in the AAP’s victory in the upcoming Delhi elections, stating that the BJP had no chance of winning.
His remarks come ahead of the upcoming general elections in India, where the BJP faces a strong challenge from the AAP and other opposition parties. This bold offer from Kejriwal could further fuel political tensions as the elections approach.
