Tue Oct 08 14:15:30 UTC 2024: ## 70th National Film Awards: ‘Kartikeya 2’, Rishab Shetty, Nithya Menen Bag Honors

**New Delhi:** The 70th National Film Awards ceremony was held with great fanfare at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winners.

‘Kartikeya 2’ director Chandoo Mondeti and producer Abhishek Agarwal received the award from the President. Kannada actor Rishab Shetty and Nithya Menen also received awards for their performances. Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

The awards were announced earlier this year by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, recognizing the best films, actors, and technicians of 2022.

Rishab Shetty won the Best Actor award for his performance in ‘Kantara’, while Nithya Menen was recognized as the Best Actress for her role in ‘Thiruchitrambalam’.

Nithya Menen expressed her happiness and gratitude for receiving the National Award, stating it was a testament to her hard work and dedication over the past 15 years in the film industry.

The Best Film award went to ‘Ottam’ (Malayalam), while ‘Kartikeya 2’ was declared the Best Regional Film from Telugu.

AR Rahman, who won the Best Music Direction (Background Score) award for his work in ‘Ponniyin Selvan – 1’, emphasized that cinema transcends boundaries of region and language. He thanked the film’s makers, especially director Mani Ratnam, for his contribution to this achievement.
