Tue Oct 08 18:20:14 UTC 2024: ## Indian Hockey Star Hardik Singh Criticizes Quality of Paris Olympics Medal
**Paris, France:** Indian hockey midfielder Hardik Singh has added his voice to the growing criticism of the quality of medals awarded at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Singh, who won a bronze medal with the Indian team, expressed his disappointment with the medal’s construction during an interview on the podcast “Oversharing With The Jhumroo.”
“They had one job, and that was to make a good quality medal,” Singh said. “But they couldn’t even do that.” While acknowledging the bronze medal as a career highlight, Singh jokingly questioned the medal’s supposed inclusion of iron from the Eiffel Tower. “We were told the medal contains iron from the Eiffel Tower,” he said, “I hope it’s true.”
Singh’s remarks echo concerns raised by other athletes regarding the durability and quality of the Paris Olympics medals. Some athletes have reported their medals showing signs of wear and tear within just weeks of receiving them.
Despite the criticism, Singh remains optimistic about India’s hockey future. He described the current team’s strength as stemming from unity and resilience. Singh also revealed his ambition to complete his Olympic rings tattoo upon winning a gold medal.
India secured the bronze medal in Paris by defeating Spain 2-1. This is Singh’s second Olympic bronze medal, having also won one in Tokyo 2020.
