Mon Oct 07 10:11:44 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Blast Past Scotland in Dominant T20 World Cup Win

**Dubai, UAE:** The West Indies women’s cricket team bounced back from their opening loss with a resounding six-wicket victory against Scotland in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday.

After restricting Scotland to a paltry 99/8 in their innings, the Caribbean side chased down the target in just 11.4 overs, earning two crucial points and keeping their qualification hopes alive.

Qiana Joseph starred for the West Indies with a blistering 31 (18) before falling to Olivia Bell’s off-spin. However, Deandra Dottin (28 from 15) and Chinelle Henry (18 from 10) continued the onslaught, sealing the win with 8.2 overs to spare.

Earlier, Scotland’s batting was hampered by early wickets, with both openers, Sarah Bryce and Saskia Horley, dismissed cheaply. A promising partnership between Kathryn Bryce (25) and Ailsa Lister (26) offered some hope, but Afy Fletcher broke the partnership, ultimately leaving Scotland struggling to reach a respectable total.

Despite the loss, Scotland will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches against South Africa and England.

The West Indies, meanwhile, face Bangladesh and England in their remaining group stage encounters.
