Mon Oct 07 15:01:19 UTC 2024: ## South Africa Clinch ODI Series Against Ireland With Dominant Win

**Abu Dhabi, October 5th, 2024:** South Africa secured a resounding victory over Ireland in the second ODI of the three-match series on Friday, winning by a massive 174 runs. The win also secured the series for the Proteas with a game to spare.

Tristan Stubbs was the star of the show for South Africa, smashing an unbeaten career-best 112 runs from 81 balls, his maiden century in ODI cricket. He shared a crucial 103-run partnership with Kyle Verreynne (67) for the third wicket, propelling South Africa to a commanding total of 343/4 in their 50 overs.

However, captain Temba Bavuma retired hurt on 35 after sustaining a soft tissue injury in his arm, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming two-test tour of Bangladesh starting on October 21st.

In response, Ireland struggled to build a platform and were bowled out for 169 runs. Graham Hume (21) and Craig Young (29 not out) offered some resistance with a 52-run last wicket stand, but it was too little too late. Lizaad Williams was the pick of the South African bowlers for the second consecutive match, taking three early wickets and ending with figures of 3-36.

The third and final ODI will be played at the same venue on Monday.
