Mon Oct 07 03:21:08 UTC 2024: ## Left Front Rallies in Agartala Condemning Attacks on Minorities in Bangladesh
Agartala, Oct 05: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and its Left Front coalition organized a large rally in Agartala today, demanding the protection of minorities in neighboring Bangladesh. The protest, which took place amidst heavy rain, drew participants from various communities and religions who chanted slogans calling for the safety of minorities regardless of their faith.
Former Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar, who addressed the rally, urged the people of Bangladesh to stand up for the protection of minorities, condemning the alleged attacks and atrocities they face. He called upon them to exert pressure on the interim government to ensure the safety of the lives and property of minorities.
“While we have no intention of commenting on the functioning of the current government in Bangladesh, we are deeply concerned about the widespread attacks on minorities in the country,” Sarkar stated. “As a neighbor, India desires peace and stability in Bangladesh, which would benefit people of all communities.”
The rally highlights growing anxieties over the safety of minorities in Bangladesh and underscores the importance of regional stability in the face of such concerns.
