Mon Oct 07 07:20:53 UTC 2024: ## England’s Anderson Misses Pakistan Tour for Golf Tournament, Remains Mentor for Bowlers
**Multan, Pakistan:** England’s former fast bowling spearhead, James Anderson, will be absent from the national team’s upcoming tour of Pakistan as he participates in Scotland’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The 42-year-old, who retired from international cricket in July, will miss the first Test match but is expected to rejoin the squad by the second day.
Despite his physical absence, Anderson remains actively involved with the team’s bowlers, sharing his wealth of experience through WhatsApp. He is acting as a mentor for the bowling unit, which faces significant challenges with the absence of key players Mark Wood and Ollie Robinson. Wood is out due to injury, while Robinson has not been selected for the series.
The absence of Wood and Robinson has left England with a relatively inexperienced fast bowling attack consisting of Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, Ollie Stone, and Chris Woakes. Woakes will be making his first Test appearance in Asia since 2016, while the other four bowlers lack extensive overseas Test experience, raising concerns about their ability to handle pressure situations.
Adding to the complications, Ollie Stone will depart on the fifth day of the match to prepare for his wedding next week.
The three-match Test series between Pakistan and England is set to begin on October 7th in Multan. England will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing 2-0 whitewash against Bangladesh.
