**HONG KONG –** Russian seventh seed Anna Blinkova pulled off a stunning upset on Friday, defeating top-seeded American Emma Navarro 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals of the Hong Kong 125 Open.

Blinkova, currently ranked No. 78, showcased impressive form throughout the tournament. She previously dispatched Thai qualifier Peangtarn Plipuech (6-1, 6-2) and Romanian wildcard Simona Halep (6-2, 6-1) en route to her victory over Navarro.

Navarro, ranked No. 8, had been in strong form herself, defeating Swiss Viktorija Golubic (7-5, 6-4) and Australian Kimberly Birrell (6-2, 6-4) in the previous rounds. However, Blinkova proved too strong on Friday, securing a dominant win to set up a semifinal clash with Australian Ajla Tomljanovic.
