Mon Oct 07 12:12:50 UTC 2024: ## Varun Chakravarthy Makes Emotional Comeback, Leads India to Victory Against Bangladesh
**Mirpur, Bangladesh:** Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy made a triumphant return to the Indian T20I side after a three-year absence, playing a crucial role in India’s 1-0 series lead against Bangladesh. Chakravarthy, who took 3 wickets for 31 runs, described his comeback as an “emotional moment” and a “rebirth”.
India chased down Bangladesh’s paltry total of 127 with 49 balls to spare, thanks in part to Chakravarthy’s impressive spell that left the Bangladeshi batters struggling to decipher his deliveries. He particularly troubled middle-order batter Jaker Ali, who was bowled by a delivery that turned back in.
The 33-year-old spinner, playing only his seventh T20I, attributed his confidence to his recent performances in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), where he worked closely with legendary off-spinner R Ashwin. “That’s a place (TNPL) where I work a lot, with Ash (Ashwin) bhai also, we won the championship as well. That gave me the confidence here,” Chakravarthy said.
The experienced spinner acknowledged the challenges of being out of the national team, but expressed gratitude for the opportunity to prove himself once again. “Once you are not in the Indian side, people tend to write you off very easily,” he said. “You need to stay in the highest level, again and again, you need to keep knocking the door, thankfully this time it happened. Hopefully, I can keep continuing my good work.”
The Player of the Match, Arshdeep Singh, praised Mayank Yadav’s return to form, stating that even his normal deliveries felt slower compared to Mayank’s pace.
