Mon Oct 07 00:52:38 UTC 2024: ## Assam Police Deport 17 Bangladeshi Nationals, Including Children, for Illegal Entry

**Guwahati, September 28, 2024:** Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 17 Bangladeshi nationals, including eight children, were deported back to their country on Saturday after being apprehended for allegedly entering India illegally.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sarma praised Assam Police for taking a firm stance against infiltration and pushing back the individuals, including 9 adults and 8 children, across the border in the early hours of the day. He also shared a photo of the apprehended individuals.

According to officials, over 100 people have been apprehended in Assam so far for illegally entering India following unrest in Bangladesh. All these individuals have been deported back to their country.

The Assam government has been actively pursuing measures to prevent illegal immigration, with the Chief Minister emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against those attempting to enter the state illegally.
