**Kochi:** The Kochi Police have launched a probe into a drug seizure at a star hotel in the city, with prominent Malayalam film actors Prayaga Martin and Sreenath Bhasi among those listed in the remand report.
According to Kochi DCP K.S. Sudarshan, the police will be questioning everyone named in the report.
The incident came to light after notorious criminal Omprakash and his associate Shihas were apprehended from the hotel in Maradu on Tuesday with narcotics.
The police, in their court filing, claimed that about 20 individuals, including the actors, had visited the accused at the hotel.
“We are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter and further action will be taken after that,” said DCP Sudarshan. He added that evidence was collected from the hotel and investigations are underway to ascertain who visited and what transpired during the event.
The blood and urine samples of the accused have been collected and the seized narcotics sent for chemical analysis. The results will be crucial in proceeding with the case, the DCP added.
Police investigations revealed that Omprakash, known for his criminal activities, had been under surveillance for months. He was suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, with information suggesting he was importing cocaine from abroad for DJ parties.
Though he had visited Kochi on multiple occasions, he had managed to evade the police. He was finally apprehended along with Shihas, a native of Kollam, during a raid based on credible intelligence on Sunday.
The police are also looking into the identity of “Bobi Chalapati,” who booked the hotel rooms in the names of others. While eight liters of alcohol were seized from the suspects, the amount of drugs found was reportedly limited. The suspects were granted bail by the court.
Police are investigating if a drug party took place in the three rooms booked by the accused, suspecting this could explain the limited amount of drugs found.
The remand report lists the names of others who allegedly visited the accused at the hotel, including Baiju, Anoop, Don Louis, Arun, Alosia, Sneha, Tipson, Sridevi, Roopa, and Pappi.
The police are actively pursuing all aspects of this case, including the alleged involvement of the film actors, to ensure a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
