**Karachi, Pakistan:** A powerful explosion near Karachi’s international airport on Sunday night sent shockwaves through the city, killing at least one person and injuring 10 others, including a foreigner. The incident occurred in an area frequently used for VIP protocol vehicles.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing the blast from different parts of the city, including North Nazimabad and Karimabad. Television footage showed smoke billowing from the site and a large fire burning on the road. Several vehicles near the airport were reportedly damaged by the fire.
The Sindh Home Minister, Ziaullah Hasan Lanjar, confirmed that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The blast site is currently under investigation.
