**Mumbai, India -** The rivalry between food delivery giants Swiggy and Zomato has reportedly spilled onto the set of India’s popular business reality show, “Shark Tank India.” According to Moneycontrol, Swiggy is close to securing the sponsorship deal for the show’s fourth season, but with a significant condition: the exclusion of Zomato’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal.
Swiggy is reportedly offering a hefty ₹40-60 crore sponsorship for the season but insists on Goyal’s absence. This move highlights the intense competition between the two companies, with Zomato having gained a significant lead in recent years.
Goyal himself confirmed this development at the ET Startup Awards, stating that he was unable to return to the show due to Swiggy’s sponsorship. “I felt a moral obligation to go there,” he explained, adding that he felt the Indian startup culture was overly focused on showmanship.
While both Swiggy and Sony Television have declined to comment on the situation, Goyal’s statement and the Moneycontrol report suggest a clear attempt by Swiggy to limit Zomato’s influence within the show. The move raises questions about the future of “Shark Tank India” and the potential impact on its brand image as a platform for innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
The fourth season of “Shark Tank India” is currently in production with the original five sharks returning, along with new hosts Sahiba Bali and Ashish Solanki.
