**Washington D.C.** – With the US presidential election approaching, reports have emerged alleging China is engaging in a campaign of misinformation and propaganda aimed at influencing the outcome. US media, citing a joint investigation by Voice of America (VOA) Mandarin and Taiwan’s Doublethink Lab, have revealed suspicious networks linked to China spreading anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and anti-US propaganda on social media platforms.
The investigation unearthed over 30 posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, promoting unfounded claims that Jewish elites control American institutions like the White House and Congress. These posts falsely suggest that Jewish influence dominates US politics despite making up only 2% of the population. They feature fake infographics and cartoons depicting prominent US officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Vice President Kamala Harris, as puppets of Jewish interests.
These networks, identified as “spamouflage” by VOA, operate under the guise of authentic users, spreading pro-Chinese narratives while discrediting their adversaries.
While China denies these accusations, experts like Tuvia Gering of the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub highlight a history of China using anti-Semitic conspiracy theories as a tool against Western countries.
This incident underscores concerns about foreign interference in US elections and raises questions about the role of social media platforms in combating disinformation campaigns.
