Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has left the door open for a potential IPL captaincy in the future, while remaining coy on the immediate prospects.

The 34-year-old, who has played in the IPL since 2012, has never led either Mumbai Indians or Kolkata Knight Riders, though he was vice-captain for KKR in 2015.

Asked about his captaincy aspirations in the IPL during a press conference ahead of the Bangladesh series, Suryakumar responded with a playful, “You put me in a spot with a wrong ‘un!” He then went on to express his enjoyment of his new role as India captain, stating that he has been learning from other captains and that “Let’s see how it goes.”

Suryakumar has captained India in 10 T20Is, leading the team to victory against Australia and South Africa. He has also served as captain against Sri Lanka, showcasing his leadership skills and ability to inspire his team.

His playful response to the IPL captaincy question suggests that while he’s open to the possibility in the future, his immediate focus remains on leading India to success in the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.
