Sat Oct 05 22:27:50 UTC 2024: ## Dube Out, Varma In: India Suffers Blow Ahead of Bangladesh T20I Series
**Gwalior, India:** A setback for the Indian team on the eve of their three-match T20I series against Bangladesh as all-rounder Shivam Dube was ruled out due to a back injury sustained during practice.
The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, has called up young left-handed batter Tilak Varma as Dube’s replacement. The injury comes as a blow for the Indian team, as Dube has become a key member of the T20I side, particularly excelling in the middle order with his powerful hitting and part-time bowling abilities. He was part of the team that won the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Although the BCCI has not disclosed the severity of Dube’s injury, his absence will be felt in the upcoming series.
Varma, known for his impressive performances in the domestic circuit and the IPL, will look to seize this opportunity to secure his place in the Indian white-ball setup. He is expected to join the team in Gwalior on Sunday morning.
The first T20I of the series is scheduled for Sunday, with the second and third matches taking place in New Delhi and Hyderabad on October 9th and 12th respectively.
**India’s revised squad for the Bangladesh T20I series:** Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, Tilak Varma.
