Sat Oct 05 23:17:00 UTC 2024: ## Santa Fe High Soccer Suffers Fatigue-Fueled Loss to La Cueva

**Albuquerque, NM** – The Santa Fe High Demons fell to the Albuquerque La Cueva Bears 4-2 on Saturday morning, succumbing to fatigue after a grueling stretch of games. The Bears, ranked second in Class 5A, dominated possession and showcased their speed and skill throughout the match.

The Demons, who played three high-intensity matches in four days against top-ranked opponents, looked a step slow and struggled with passing and decision-making. Head coach Chris Eadie attributed the performance to fatigue, stating, “We just had no luck on our side. We were just off, and that tells me we were really tired.”

La Cueva broke through early, scoring in the 4th minute and building a 3-0 lead by halftime. Despite a late rally led by Cy Anderson’s 35-yard strike, the Demons couldn’t overcome the deficit.

The game was also marred by injuries, with junior Sergio Jimenez leaving the field in an ambulance due to dehydration. Anderson also reinjured his ankle.

“Today was really rough,” said senior midfielder Beckham Sayer. “The past few games were really taxing. I played every minute, and at the start of the game, I was like, ‘Oh my God. I’m already out of energy.'”

Despite the loss, Coach Eadie remains optimistic. He anticipates the return of several injured players, including Jimenez, and believes that a rest will be beneficial for the team. “If we can get healthy again and get that depth again and get a rest, I think we’ll be great,” he said.
