This will be the first time the IAF Day air show is being held in South India, with previous events taking place in Delhi, Prayagraj, and Chandigarh. The organizers anticipate a massive crowd of 1.5 million people attending the show, which will take place between 11 am and 1 pm.

“This is a significant milestone for the IAF,” said Air Vice Marshal K Prem Kumar, Chief Coordinating Officer of the IAF Day Parade Chennai 2024. “We are thrilled to bring this magnificent display to the people of Chennai and showcase the strength and prowess of the Indian Air Force.”

The air show will be visible along the entire stretch of Marina Beach, from the Light House to Anna Square. The best vantage point will be the shore opposite Vivekananda House, where a dais for dignitaries will be set up.

Entry to the show is free, and spectators can simply walk to Marina Beach to witness the performance. For those unable to attend in person, the show will be broadcast live on Doordarshan National and Doordarshan Tamil YouTube channels from 11 am to 1 pm.

The IAF conducted a full dress rehearsal on October 4th, giving a glimpse of the impressive aerial capabilities of its aircraft, including the Rafale, Suryakiran, and Sarang. The event will also feature the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas and Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, along with heritage aircraft like the Dakota and Harvard.
