**Dhaka, Bangladesh:** India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav hinted at his aspirations to lead an IPL franchise in the future, while also expressing his excitement for his current role in the national team. While fielding questions from the media on the eve of the first T20 against Bangladesh, Suryakumar, who was previously a key player for Mumbai Indians, offered a playful response to the question of his IPL leadership ambitions.

“You put me in a spot with a wrong ‘un,” he laughed, “Really enjoying this new role (as India captain).” He went on to say that he has learned from other captains and feels good about leading the team, stating, “Aage dekhte hain. Chalte rahta hain. Baaki aapko pata toh chal hee jayega (Let’s see how it goes. Rest you will know in due course of time).”

The captain also expressed his excitement about pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who is set to make his debut in the series. “Mayank has that x-factor,” said Suryakumar, adding that while he hasn’t seen him bowl in nets yet, “I have seen his potential and the impact he can make.”

Suryakumar confirmed that Sanju Samson will open the innings with Abhishek Sharma in the series. He also commented on the pitch, expecting it to play well despite Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy’s prediction of a slow wicket.

He further expressed his support for batters contributing with an over or two if the situation demands, emphasizing that it could be beneficial for the team. “If you have the skill why not,” he said, recalling the previous series against Sri Lanka where several batters bowled.

The first T20 match between India and Bangladesh is scheduled for Sunday at the newly built stadium in Dhaka.
