**Chennai, India – October 6, 2024:** The skies above Chennai were ablaze with color and power as the Indian Air Force (IAF) put on a dazzling display of aerial prowess for the 92nd IAF Day celebrations. Thousands of spectators gathered on the iconic Marina beach to witness the spectacle, which featured a diverse array of aircraft, including the new Rafale fighter jets, performing complex maneuvers and leaving trails of smoke and flares.
The air show, which began at 11 a.m., showcased the IAF’s strength and modernization efforts. Alongside the Rafales, the show featured the Sukhoi Su-30, Tejas, Sarang helicopter display team, and heritage aircraft like the Dakota and Harvard. A highlight was the simulated rescue operation by the IAF’s Special Garud Force commandos, which left the crowd captivated.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin were among the dignitaries who witnessed the event. The show was so popular that it attracted a record-breaking number of spectators, potentially earning a place in the Limca Book of World Records.
The IAF’s display underscored the theme of this year’s celebration: “Bharatiya Vayusena: Saksham, Sashakt aur Aatmnirbhar” (Indian Air Force: Capable, Strong, and Self-reliant).
