**Lisbon, Portugal** – Sporting Clube de Portugal head coach Rúben Amorim has assured fans that his team is ready to face Casa Pia AC in their upcoming Liga Portugal match on Matchday 8, despite facing a number of injury concerns.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the game, Amorim highlighted the importance of maintaining their winning streak before the international break, emphasizing that their focus is on securing a victory and staying at the top of the table.
“This change of mindset is starting to become more natural,” said Amorim, referring to the team’s ability to transition from European competition to domestic fixtures. “We have to win to maintain our position.”
The coach acknowledged the challenges posed by Casa Pia, highlighting their defensive style and the potential threat of key players like Cassiano and Nuno Moreira. However, Amorim expressed confidence in his team’s ability to overcome these challenges, stating, “We are already used to the overall way Casa Pia AC play… we are prepared.”
Sporting CP will be without several key players due to injury, including Ousmane Diomande, Matheus Reis, Jeremiah St. Juste, Marcus Edwards, and Pedro Gonçalves. However, Amorim confirmed that Gonçalo Inácio and Eduardo Quaresma will be involved despite injury concerns.
Regarding the left-wing position, Amorim remained coy, refusing to disclose his starting lineup but confirming that both Maxi Araújo and Conrad Harder are options.
Despite the injuries and the recent strong performances of rivals FC Porto and SL Benfica in Europe, Amorim emphasized the importance of continuing their strong league form. “We always have to win,” he stated. “We will continue fighting, and if we win, we will go to the break in first place.”
Sporting CP will host Casa Pia AC on Saturday at Estádio José Alvalade.
