Sat Oct 05 21:37:06 UTC 2024: ## Mitrovic Shines Again as Al-Hilal Edge Past Al-Ahli in Saudi Pro League Thriller

**RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA -** Aleksandar Mitrovic continued his blistering form in the Saudi Pro League, scoring twice to lead Al-Hilal to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Al-Ahli on Saturday.

The reigning champions trailed early on after Gabri Veiga opened the scoring for Al-Ahli in the 12th minute. However, Mitrovic equalized with a trademark header in the second half, and after his initial penalty was saved, he netted the winner from the spot following a VAR review.

Mitrovic’s brace took his season tally to 14 goals in all competitions, and he has now scored 54 goals in 54 appearances for Al-Hilal since joining the club.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over 10-man Torino in Serie A, thanks to a hat-trick from Marcus Thuram. Thuram’s goals, including two headers and a tap-in, helped Inter leapfrog AC Milan to second place in the league table.

In the Premier League, Anthony Gordon’s penalty miss against his former club Everton proved costly for Newcastle United as they were held to a goalless draw at Goodison Park. Jordan Pickford, Gordon’s ex-teammate, saved the penalty to earn Everton their first clean sheet of the season.

Finally, Bayer Leverkusen’s complacency proved costly as they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw with lowly Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga. Victor Boniface and Jonas Hofmann put Leverkusen ahead early on, but Kiel battled back with goals from Max Geschwill and Fiete Arp to salvage a point.

Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance, criticizing their lack of focus and intelligence after establishing a comfortable lead.
