**New Delhi, India – October 4, 2024** – The second day of Shardiya Navratri, the nine-day Hindu festival dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, is being celebrated across India today. This day is dedicated to the worship of Maa Brahmacharini, the embodiment of spiritual devotion and self-discipline.

Maa Brahmacharini, known for her calm and serene demeanor, is depicted as a young woman focused on spiritual practice. She is revered for her purity, wisdom, and perseverance, symbolized by her unmarried form. Her name, derived from Sanskrit words for supreme consciousness and self-discipline, reflects her unwavering devotion.

Devotees are observing the day with various rituals and offerings. They rise early, take a bath to purify themselves, and sprinkle Gangajal in their worship space. Offerings to Maa Brahmacharini include jasmine flowers, rice, sandalwood, and a special bag of sugar. The goddess is also adorned with roli, kumkum, and milk, curd, and honey.

The auspicious color for today is green, symbolizing nature, growth, fertility, tranquility, and serenity.

The Dwitiya tithi of Day 2 of Navratri started on October 4 and continues until 5:30 am on October 5. The festival will culminate on October 12 with Dusshera.
