Sat Oct 05 11:34:23 UTC 2024: ## East Bengal Aim to Rejuvenate Under New Coach Against Confident Jamshedpur FC

Jamshedpur, Oct 4 (PTI): East Bengal, reeling from three consecutive defeats, will be hoping for a resurgence under their new interim coach, Bino George, when they take on Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Saturday.

The Kolkata giants have been struggling since the resignation of former coach Carles Cuadrat following a disastrous start to the season. They find themselves at the bottom of the table and desperately need points to climb out of the relegation zone.

George, in his first match at the helm, is confident in his players’ ability to turn the tide: “I have full faith in our players and their quality. They have been working very hard… I know the boys can come back stronger. That’s what East Bengal is all about.”

Meanwhile, Jamshedpur FC enters the match with momentum, having not lost to East Bengal in their last three encounters, including a 2-1 victory in February. However, they are yet to secure back-to-back wins against their Kolkata rivals in the ISL.

Despite a recent loss to Odisha FC, Jamshedpur’s head coach Khalid Jamil remains optimistic: “Every match is an opportunity to grow, and we are ready to give our best effort to secure a positive result.”

The match promises an intriguing clash of styles, with East Bengal captain Cleiton Silva looking to break his scoring drought after four scoreless ISL appearances. On the other side, Jamshedpur’s forward Jordan Murray has been a consistent threat, averaging over 10 duels per game in his last six matches.

East Bengal’s goalkeeper Debjit Majumder has performed well this season, averaging 3.4 saves per game. However, with only three clean sheets to his name, he will need to be at his best to keep Jamshedpur’s potent attack at bay.

The two teams have met eight times in the ISL, with Jamshedpur winning three, East Bengal two, and three matches ending in draws. The match kicks off at 5 pm IST.
