Wed Oct 02 21:05:51 UTC 2024: ## Bangladesh Announces Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup, Nigar Sultana Joty to Lead
**Sharjah, UAE (September 18, 2024):** The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, set to take place in the UAE in October. The team will be led by wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana Joty.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh, but was moved to the UAE in August due to political instability and safety concerns. However, the BCB will remain as the official hosts of the tournament.
The squad features some notable changes from the team that participated in the Women’s Asia Cup in July. Legspinner Fatima Khatun and batter Sobhana Mostary have returned to the team. Additionally, opener Shathi Rani, all-rounder Disha Biswas, and uncapped batter Taj Nehar have been included in the squad.
Notable omissions include all-rounder Rumana Ahmed, as well as Rubya Haider, Shorifa Khatun, Ishma Tanjim, and left-arm spinner Sabikun Nahar Jesmin.
Bangladesh will face Scotland in their opening match on October 3 in Sharjah. They have been drawn in Group B alongside England, West Indies, South Africa, and Scotland.
