**Pehowa, Haryana:** With assembly elections just days away in Haryana, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing them of misleading the public with false promises and engaging in land grabbing schemes.
Speaking at a rally in Pehowa on Wednesday, Mr Singh specifically targeted Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, Robert Vadra, alleging his involvement in land acquisitions from farmers. He contrasted this with the BJP’s record, highlighting the economic growth and national security achievements of the party-led central government.
Mr Singh also criticized Congress’ alliance with the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir, pointing out their promise to reinstate Article 370. He emphasized the importance of the abrogation of Article 370, highlighting its implementation as a key achievement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Further criticizing Congress’ questioning of surgical strikes and airstrikes conducted by the Indian armed forces, Mr Singh asserted the strength and capability of India’s military. He also reassured the public about the government’s commitment to the Agnipath scheme, emphasizing the need for young people in the armed forces and aligning India’s policies with international practices.
Mr Singh highlighted the significant economic progress made under the BJP’s rule, citing India’s rise to the fifth-largest economy and its successful moon mission. He further emphasized the financial support provided to Haryana under BJP governance, contrasting it with the allocation during the Congress’ reign.
Calling on voters to support the BJP, Mr Singh urged them to reject the Congress’ hollow promises and choose a party committed to national development and security.
Haryana goes to the polls on October 5, with results expected on October 8.
