Wed Oct 02 05:55:47 UTC 2024: ## Annular Solar Eclipse to Grace the Skies on October 2nd, 2024: A “Ring of Fire” Phenomenon

While India will miss out on witnessing the spectacular celestial event, the world will be treated to an annular solar eclipse on October 2nd, 2024. This eclipse, known as the “Ring of Fire,” will occur when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, leaving a luminous ring around the sun’s silhouette.

The eclipse will be visible in parts of South America, Antarctica, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, and North America, beginning at 9:13 PM IST and lasting for approximately 6 hours and 4 minutes.

The “Ring of Fire” phenomenon will be most prominent in locations like Easter Island, where the eclipse is expected to last for over 5 minutes. However, in India, the eclipse will occur during the night, rendering it invisible.

For those unable to view the eclipse directly, online live streaming will be available to witness this rare celestial spectacle.

This will be the second and final solar eclipse of 2024, following the total solar eclipse that occurred on April 8th. The next solar eclipse is scheduled for August 12th, 2026, and will be a total solar eclipse visible primarily in Iceland, Greenland, Russia, Spain, and Portugal.

**Important Note:** Viewing a solar eclipse without proper eye protection can cause severe eye damage. It is highly recommended to use certified eclipse glasses or solar viewers to safely observe the eclipse.
