**OSKALOOSA, IOWA** – The Ottumwa Bulldogs football team continued their undefeated season with a hard-fought 42-28 victory over the Marshalltown Bobcats on Friday night. The Bulldogs overcame the loss of their leading rusher, Cameron Manary, on the first play of the game and continued to dominate the time of possession, ultimately proving their resilience and offensive prowess.
Koby Chanthalavanh stepped up in the absence of Manary, rushing for a career-high 268 yards on 27 carries, scoring three touchdowns in the process. The Bulldogs also showcased their balanced attack with Brannon Flattery adding 53 yards and Nolan Heller gaining 35 yards, including a two-yard touchdown run.
The Bulldogs’ defense held Marshalltown scoreless in the second quarter, allowing Ottumwa to build a comfortable lead. The Bobcats managed to keep pace in the first quarter, but ultimately couldn’t match the Bulldogs’ offensive firepower.
This victory extends the Bulldogs’ winning streak to 5-0, leaving them and Bettendorf as the only two Class 5A teams with undefeated records heading into October.
“There’s always going to be adversity in the game no matter what,” said senior lineman Dylan Forney. “You can’t go down. You have to move on to the next play and the next rep.”
Next week, the 10th-ranked Bulldogs will host Ames, looking to continue their winning streak and build momentum for the rest of the season.
