Tue Oct 01 05:15:08 UTC 2024: ## NAIA Overnight Parking Fees Soar 300% Under New Management

**MANILA, Philippines** – Drivers are facing a hefty increase in overnight parking fees at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) following a management takeover by San Miguel-led New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC). Effective October 1, the overnight parking rate for cars has jumped to P1,200 per 24 hours, a staggering 300% increase from the previous P300.

NNIC cited the need for “continued maintenance and improvements” to the facilities as justification for the price hike. While the new management boasts a significant increase in overnight rates, day parking fees have also experienced an upward adjustment. Cars now face a P50 charge for the first two hours, up from P40 previously. Additional hours are charged at P25 per hour, up from P20.

Motorcycles and buses have also seen their parking fees climb. Motorcycles now cost P20 for the first two hours, followed by P10 for each subsequent hour. Buses are charged P100 for the first two hours, with a P50 fee for each subsequent hour.

The overnight parking rate for motorcycles has increased to P480, while buses will now cost P2,400. These increases mark a substantial jump from the previous overnight rate of P300 for all vehicles.

The San Miguel-led consortium, which includes San Miguel Holdings Corp., RMM Asian Logistics Inc., RLW Aviation Development Inc., and Incheon International Airport Corp., took over management of NAIA on September 14 after winning the bidding for the airport’s maintenance, operation, and upgrade contract.

The dramatic price hike has drawn immediate criticism from passengers, who are concerned about the impact on their travel expenses.
