**Las Vegas, NV** – The heat continues to scorch the Las Vegas valley, with Monday hitting a new record high temperature at Harry Reid International Airport. The mercury soared to 102 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 101 degrees set on September 30, 2015, according to the National Weather Service Las Vegas.
This marks the 106th day of temperatures reaching 100 degrees or higher in Las Vegas this year, shattering the previous record of 100 days set in 1947. Last week, the city experienced the most 100-degree days in a single calendar year on record.
An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for the Las Vegas valley until Tuesday, with temperatures expected to remain well above average, potentially tying or breaking daily records. This summer has been the hottest on record for Las Vegas, and above-average temperatures are expected to continue through the week.
