Kanpur, India: India secured a crucial victory over Bangladesh in the second Test match at Green Park stadium today, pushing their World Test Championship (WTC) final hopes forward. The match, marred by rain delays, was a tight affair but India’s aggressive strategy proved decisive.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the star performer of the match, highlighted the team’s fighting spirit and attributed much of their success to Captain Rohit Sharma’s leadership. Ashwin lauded Rohit’s unwavering belief in an aggressive approach, dubbing it “Jaisball,” which he says set the tone for the team’s performance.

“Rohit was keen that we needed 80 overs to bowl at them,” Ashwin revealed, recounting the captain’s bold strategy. “He said even if we get out under 230, we’re going after it,” emphasizing Rohit’s determination to push for a win.

This aggressive mindset paid dividends on Day 4, as India amassed a remarkable 285 runs in just 35 overs, putting the pressure back on Bangladesh. Ashwin then spearheaded India’s bowling attack, dismissing Bangladesh for a paltry 146 runs, securing a resounding victory.

Apart from his pivotal role in the team’s win, Ashwin also etched his name in the history books by becoming the leading wicket-taker in the current WTC cycle and the first bowler to achieve 50 wickets across all three editions of the tournament. His exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Series award, his 11th such accolade, equaling legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan’s record.

This victory solidifies India’s position in the WTC, showcasing their ability to perform under pressure and their unwavering commitment to aggressive, winning cricket.
