Mylapore, October 2, 2024 – The annual Mahalaya Amavasai rituals drew thousands to the Sri Kapali Temple on Wednesday, creating a bustling atmosphere on both sides of the temple tank. Devotees began arriving as early as 5 am, forming long queues on R K Mutt Road and South Mada Street. Priests performed the rituals on the pavement, while the temple tank itself remained off-limits to the public. Despite the large crowds, the zone remained orderly, with Urbaser Sumeet staff on hand to clear the waste left behind.
