Wed Oct 02 09:37:15 UTC 2024: ## Naxalites Torch Five Trucks in Hazaribagh, Halt Coal Transportation
**Hazaribagh:** In a brazen attack, unidentified Naxalites set ablaze five trucks carrying coal for the NTPC in the Keredari block of Hazaribagh district late on the night of October 1st. The incident took place between 2 am and 2:30 am, while the trucks were parked near the Keredari-Tandwa main road, waiting to be loaded with coal.
A group of eight to ten Naxalites, armed with weapons, arrived at the site and poured petrol on the trucks before setting them on fire. The assailants also reportedly assaulted the drivers and threatened to halt coal transportation operations.
The Naxalites further created fear in the area by firing shots into the air. Following the attack, coal transportation from the NTPC’s Chatti Bariatu and Keredari coal mines has been completely halted, leaving the surrounding areas in a state of fear.
While police investigations are underway, the identity of the organization behind the attack remains unclear. Some speculate that the attack could be related to the non-payment of levy.
Police and NTPC officials are currently assessing the situation and have initiated a probe into the incident. The police are actively working to identify the organization responsible for this act of violence.
