Wed Oct 02 14:55:19 UTC 2024: ## Middle East Tensions Force Airlines to Suspend Flights, Divert Routes

Escalating tensions between Iran and Israel are reverberating across the globe, with the aviation sector feeling the brunt of the unrest. Amidst the growing conflict, several major airlines have been forced to reroute flights or extend the suspension of services to the Middle East.

The conflict, initially sparked by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, then the Israel-Hezbollah clash, and now the Israel-Iran standoff, has disrupted flights from Lufthansa to Emirates. Air India has also expressed concerns regarding the heightened tensions.

Following Iran’s missile attack on Israel on Tuesday, the already volatile Middle East saw tensions soar. Israel has threatened a swift retaliation. Responding to the precarious situation, numerous airlines have extended the suspension of their flights to Israel and Lebanon.

KLM, the Dutch airline, has announced the suspension of all flights to Tel Aviv until the end of the year. Previously, the airline had suspended flights until October 26th but extended the deadline due to the escalating conflict.

Other airlines affected by the escalating conflict include Lufthansa, which has suspended flights to Beirut until November 30th, Tel Aviv until October 31st, and Tehran until October 14th. Emirates has canceled flights to Iraq, Iran, and Jordan and extended the suspension of Beirut flights until October 8th. Kuwait Airways has altered flight routes and timings citing safety precautions.

Several other airlines, including Iran Air, Iraqi Airways, Gulf Air (Bahrain), and Qatar Airways (Doha) have also suspended all flights to Beirut until further notice.

Amidst these developments, Air India has expressed concern about the ongoing conflict and stated that they are closely monitoring the situation. The airline has assured that necessary adjustments will be made to ensure the safety of its operations, both in the Middle East and other parts of its network.
