**MUMBAI, INDIA – October 1, 2024** – Bollywood actor Govinda, 60, was hospitalized on Tuesday after accidentally shooting himself in the leg. The incident occurred at his residence around 4:45 AM while he was attempting to put away his licensed revolver.

According to the Mumbai Police, Govinda was alone at home when the gun discharged, injuring him in the lower leg. He was rushed to Criti Care Hospital in Andheri, where doctors successfully removed the bullet.

Govinda is currently out of danger, with his daughter, Tina (Narmada), by his side. His wife, Sunita Ahuja, was in Jaipur visiting the Khatu Shyam temple at the time of the incident.

“He has been treated and is stable,” said Dr. Agarwal, a spokesperson for Criti Care Hospital.

Govinda, who has been largely absent from films for the past five years, was preparing to travel to Kolkata for an event when the incident occurred.

“I’ve contacted Govinda personally to inquire about his health. The government and people of the state wish him a speedy recovery. I assure him of full support to his family during this difficult time,” Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said in an official statement.

Several Bollywood personalities have expressed concern and visited Govinda in the hospital.

Govinda, known for his energetic dance moves and comic timing, has starred in several successful films, including “Coolie No. 1,” “Hero No. 1,” “Raja Babu,” “Chhote Sarkar,” and “Hadh Kar Di Aapne.”

This incident has raised concerns about gun safety and has highlighted the importance of responsible handling of firearms.
