**JOHANNESBURG** – The Gauteng Tourism Authority is hoping to see a resurgence in revenue following the recent designation of several new World Heritage Sites in the province. Ten sites, including Freedom Square, the Union Buildings, Mandela House, and Constitution Hill, have been added to the prestigious list.
The tourism sector in South Africa has been struggling to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and these new designations are expected to attract more visitors and boost the economy.
The announcement was celebrated with an event honoring leading women in the country, including the newly-appointed Chief Justice Mandisa Maya.
