**Vancouver, BC** – AMD is pushing the boundaries of its AM5 platform with the introduction of the new 800-series chipsets. This marks the next generation of motherboards, building upon the success of the 600-series and bringing a host of exciting features for enthusiasts and gamers alike.

The first wave of 800-series motherboards, the X870E and X870, are now available. These chipsets boast improved features, enhanced IO memory support, and advanced overclocking capabilities specifically designed to support the latest Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 Granite Ridge CPUs.

Key features of the new chipsets include:

* **USB4 and Gen5 GPU/SSD Support:** The X870E, powered by two Promontory 21 dies, offers native USB4 and Gen5 support for both GPUs and SSDs. The X870, featuring one Promontory 21 die, retains these features with slightly fewer lanes.
* **Enhanced Overclocking:** New PBO and CO algorithms introduced with Ryzen 9000 CPUs are fully supported out of the box.
* **Faster Memory Speeds:** Support for DDR5-5600 MT/s memory speeds natively, with over 8000 MT/s transfer rates expected on high-end motherboards in the near future.

In addition to the high-end X870E and X870 chipsets, AMD will also be releasing the B850 and B840 chipsets for the mainstream market. The B850 offers Gen5 GPU support and optional Gen5 M.2, while the B840, featuring the older Promontory 19 die, provides Gen4 GPU/SSD support and only memory overclocking. The B840, designed for affordability, is expected to compete with sub-$200 US options from Intel.

The AM5 platform, transitioning from a PGA to an LGA design with the LGA 1718 socket, offers enhanced features and communication channels. AMD has committed to supporting the AM5 socket until 2027, showcasing its commitment to long-term platform stability.
