Mon Sep 30 03:47:15 UTC 2024: ## India’s Jaishankar Meets US Counterpart Blinken, Discussing Global Issues

**Washington D.C.** – India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with his US counterpart, Secretary of State Tony Blinken, on Tuesday in Washington D.C. The meeting covered a wide range of bilateral and global issues, including the ongoing war in Ukraine and the escalating crisis in the Middle East.

Jaishankar, who arrived in the US capital on Sunday, is also engaging with other high-ranking officials from the Biden administration. His visit coincides with a growing recognition of India’s strategic importance in both global affairs and US foreign policy.

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace hosted a discussion between Jaishankar and its president, Mariano-Florentino (Tino) Cuellar, focusing on the future of US-India relations. The think tank highlighted the deepening partnership between the two countries, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region, defense innovation, and critical technologies.

The meeting comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s successful state visit to the US earlier this year, which included a bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden and the QUAD Leaders’ Summit in Delaware. The think tank emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between the US and India on issues such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, democracy, security, and trade.

Jaishankar’s visit marks his first trip to the US capital since the new Indian government took office. It underscores the growing importance of the US-India partnership in addressing global challenges and shaping the future of international relations.
