**Kानपुर, India:** Virat Kohli has etched his name into the annals of cricket history, becoming the fourth batsman in the world to achieve the monumental feat of scoring 27,000 international runs. He reached this milestone during the second Test match against Bangladesh in Kanpur, India.

Kohli, who entered the match with 26,965 runs in 593 innings, reached the milestone with a quickfire 47 runs in the first innings, before being clean bowled by Shakib Al Hasan.

The legendary Indian batsman surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for reaching 27,000 runs the quickest, achieving the milestone in 29 fewer innings than the Master Blaster. He also surpassed the number of innings it took Kumar Sangakkara (648 innings) and Ricky Ponting (650 innings) to achieve the same milestone.

With this landmark achievement, Kohli is now just 471 runs away from overtaking Ricky Ponting for the second most runs in international cricket.

He currently sits second on the list of batsmen with the most centuries, boasting 80 international centuries. He trails only Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record with 100 international centuries.

Kohli, who made his international debut in 2008, has amassed 8,918 runs in Test cricket, 13,906 runs in ODIs, and 4,188 runs in T20Is.
