Mon Sep 30 01:10:16 UTC 2024: ## Congress Leader Kharge Vows to Fight for Jammu and Kashmir’s Statehood

**Jasrota, Jammu and Kashmir:** Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has vowed to fight for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, making it clear he intends to remain active in politics until Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ousted from power.

Kharge made the declaration at a public rally in Jasrota, where he was also briefly hospitalized for low blood pressure. He criticized the BJP government for delaying elections and its handling of the Union territory, accusing them of running it “through remote control”. He also attacked the BJP’s record on jobs, claiming unemployment in the region is at a 45-year high.

Kharge further emphasized the importance of restoring the “Darbar Move” tradition, an annual shift of the state government between Jammu and Srinagar, for economic prosperity. He urged voters to support Congress candidate Thakur Balbir Singh in the upcoming assembly elections.

The Congress leader’s strong statements reflect the party’s strategy to regain influence in Jammu and Kashmir. His remarks come amidst escalating tensions with the BJP, and highlight the Congress’s commitment to address issues like unemployment and development in the region.

Kharge’s rally, however, was cut short when he experienced dizziness and was provided medical assistance. His second rally in Udhampur was subsequently cancelled, and he is scheduled to return to Delhi.
