Sat Sep 28 19:05:56 UTC 2024: ## Rahm Closes in on Spanish Open Title After Stellar Round

**Madrid, Spain** – Jon Rahm, the three-time Spanish Open champion, is in prime position to claim his fourth title after a blistering third round performance at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. The Spanish star carded a six-under-par 65, moving him to within two shots of leader Angel Hidalgo, who shot a 68 to remain at 13 under for the tournament.

Rahm will join Hidalgo in the final pairing on Sunday, with both Spaniards vying for the prestigious trophy. David Puig, another Spaniard, is a shot back on 11 under after his own impressive 65. Meanwhile, England’s Joe Dean and American Ryder Cup player Patrick Reed are tied for fourth place at eight under.

Rahm’s participation in the tournament was confirmed only after a late appeal against fines imposed by the DP World Tour for his participation in LIV Golf events. The 29-year-old, who holds two major titles, is required to play in four DP World Tour events each season to retain his membership and remain eligible for the 2025 Ryder Cup team.

With his participation in the Olympics and upcoming appearances at the Dunhill Links Championship and Andalucia Masters, Rahm is on track to fulfill his playing commitments.

The final round promises to be a thrilling battle between the top contenders, with Rahm looking to add another Spanish Open title to his already impressive resume.
