Mon Sep 30 14:21:30 UTC 2024: ## Rain Delays Force India-Bangladesh Test To Fourth Day, India Dominates
**Kanpur:** The second and final Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur has been delayed due to persistent rain. The match, originally scheduled for four days, has been significantly impacted by weather conditions, forcing a postponement to the fourth day. The match remained suspended for two consecutive days, Saturday and Sunday, after the field remained unplayable due to heavy rainfall.
On the first day of the match, Bangladesh managed to score a meager 107 runs in 35 overs, losing three wickets. Momonul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 40 and 6 runs, respectively. Indian bowlers, led by Akash Deep who claimed two wickets, and Ravichandran Ashwin with one wicket, were dominant in the early stages.
The Indian bowling attack, particularly Jasprit Bumrah, who took four wickets in the first Test match, is expected to pose a significant threat to the Bangladesh batting line-up. The first Test, played in Chennai, saw Bumrah taking a total of five wickets, while Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep claimed two wickets each in the first innings.
India declared their first innings at 285 runs, leaving Bangladesh with a daunting task in the second innings. In their chase, Bangladesh struggled to stay afloat, reaching 26 runs for the loss of two wickets in 11 overs. The hosts are still ahead by 26 runs.
Bangladesh’s second wicket fell when Hasan Mahmud, who scored only 4 runs, was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. Earlier, opener Zakir Hasan was dismissed by Ashwin for 10 runs, leaving the visitors on the back foot.
The Indian team will be looking to secure a comprehensive victory in the final Test, aiming to dominate the Bangladesh batsmen and clinch the series.
