Mon Sep 30 07:26:57 UTC 2024: ## Young Pace Sensation Mayank Yadav Earns Maiden Call-Up to Indian T20I Squad

**Bengaluru, India -** Mayank Yadav, a 22-year-old pace bowler, has been selected for the Indian T20I squad that will face Bangladesh in the upcoming series. This marks Yadav’s first call-up to the national team, a testament to his raw talent and impressive pace.

Yadav’s inclusion comes after a period of recovery from a recurring abdominal strain that hampered his performance in the IPL 2024. His coach, Devender Sharma, expressed pride in his player’s achievement, stating that injuries had previously prevented him from earning a national call-up sooner.

“I feel very proud of him. His selection in the Indian team would have come earlier if he hadn’t been injured,” Sharma said. “He was disheartened after missing most of the matches for LSG in IPL 2024, but with the help of NCA, he is fully fit and fine, running hard, and bowling at the same pace. For sure, he will put up a good performance with the ball. He is hungry for it.”

Despite his limited IPL appearances, Yadav made a significant impression with his blistering pace, consistently clocking speeds exceeding 150 kph. His 3-for-27 performance against Punjab Kings showcased his ability to make an immediate impact.

Yadav’s road to recovery was a slow one, requiring extensive rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru. While his initial pace was slightly affected, Sharma confirmed that he has fully recovered and is bowling with the same speed and accuracy.

Looking ahead, Sharma stressed the importance of managing Yadav’s workload due to his young age. He believes that a gradual introduction to the international stage will allow him to develop his skills and reach his full potential.

“He is still very young, so his body hasn’t fully developed like other pacers,” Sharma said. “A selective approach should be taken, allowing him to grow into the international scene gradually. Pace can be generated by many, but the accuracy he has is rare.”

Sharma also suggested that Yadav could be a valuable addition to the Indian Test side, particularly as a net bowler for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. His natural pace and potential make him a promising prospect for all three formats of the game.

Yadav’s maiden call-up to the Indian T20I squad is a significant moment in his career, and his performance in the upcoming series will be eagerly awaited.
