Sat Sep 28 22:34:34 UTC 2024: ## Google Maps Incident Reporting Finally Hits Android Auto After Months of Delay

After years of user requests and over two months since its announcement, Google Maps has finally rolled out support for incident reporting on Android Auto. Previously, the feature was only available on mobile devices, limiting its usefulness for drivers. While Google Maps incident reporting launched on Apple CarPlay in July, the Android Auto rollout was met with frustration as it was delayed despite promises.

However, users are now reporting that the feature is finally live, appearing on the Google Maps app within Android Auto. The new triangle hazard button, located below the compass, allows users to report a variety of road hazards including crashes, traffic jams, construction, lane closures, and speed traps. Interestingly, the button only appears if there is enough vertical space in the Android Auto dashboard layout.

This long-awaited update will allow drivers to contribute to real-time road conditions, helping other drivers navigate safely. As the feature becomes more widely available, drivers are encouraged to use it to report any incidents they encounter.
