Mon Sep 30 15:37:27 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Named as Accused in Land Grabbing Case

**Bengaluru:** The Lokayukta Police in Mysuru has registered a case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as the first accused in a land grabbing case. The case was filed following a direction from a special court in Bengaluru, which handles cases against elected representatives.

The case stems from a complaint filed by Mysuru resident Snehamayi Krishna, accusing Siddaramaiah of using his influence to illegally secure 14 residential plots for his wife, Parvati. Parvati has been named as the second accused, while her brother Mallikarjuna Swamy is the third accused.

The complaint alleges that the plots were allocated to Parvati by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in a prime location, defying legal norms. The alleged illegal activity took place in 2014, while Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister.

According to the complaint, Parvati had applied to MUDA to obtain land in exchange for 3.16 acres of land owned by her, which MUDA had acquired for a layout project. The complaint also alleges that the land acquired by MUDA was initially purchased by Mallikarjuna. The fourth accused in the case is Devaraju, who allegedly sold the land to Mallikarjuna.

The High Court recently dismissed a petition challenging the Governor’s permission to prosecute Siddaramaiah in the case. This paved the way for the Lokayukta to proceed with the investigation.
