Sun Sep 29 06:59:03 UTC 2024: ## Udhayanidhi Stalin Elevated to Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in Cabinet Reshuffle

**Chennai, India** – In a major cabinet reshuffle, Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. The move, which had been widely anticipated, was confirmed on Saturday, September 23rd, by the Raj Bhavan. The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers is scheduled for Sunday, September 24th, at 3:30 PM.

Udhayanidhi, who currently holds the Sports portfolio, has been a rising figure in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. His elevation comes days after his father hinted at a cabinet shakeup, stating “There will be no disappointment; there will be change.”

The cabinet reshuffle also saw the induction of V Senthilbalaji, Dr Govi Chezhiaan, R Rajendran and SM Nasar. Notably, Senthilbalaji was re-inducted after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case. He had been incarcerated for over 15 months following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last year. Balaji expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Stalin and Udhayanidhi, asserting his innocence and his commitment to fighting the case legally.

The cabinet reshuffle marks a significant shift in the Tamil Nadu political landscape, solidifying the influence of the next generation of DMK leaders.
