**Mohali, Punjab:** Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been diagnosed with leptospirosis, a bacterial infection, after undergoing routine medical check-up at Fortis Hospital in Mohali. He was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday night.

According to Dr. RK Jaswal, Director and Head of Department of Cardiology at Fortis Hospital Mohali, the Chief Minister has shown significant improvement in his clinical parameters and responded well to treatment for increased pulmonary artery pressure.

While initially suspected to be tropical fever, subsequent blood tests confirmed leptospirosis. Mann has been put on appropriate antibiotics and all vital signs are stable, with satisfactory improvement in pathological tests, the hospital stated.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection spread through contact with the urine of infected animals. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, and vomiting. It is treatable with antibiotics.
