**CHENNAI, INDIA -** Young Mumbai batter Musheer Khan, brother of Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, has been ruled out of the upcoming Irani Cup after being involved in a road accident near Lucknow on Friday.

The 19-year-old was traveling from Azamgarh to Lucknow to join the Mumbai squad for the Irani Cup match against Rest of India, scheduled to begin on October 1st. According to a bulletin released by the Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, Musheer was admitted late on September 27th with neck pain.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed that Musheer has sustained a fracture in his neck region and is currently under close observation.

“Musheer is currently admitted to a hospital in Lucknow, where he remains stable, conscious, and well-oriented,” the MCA stated in an official release. “He has sustained a fracture in the neck region and is under close observation.”

The BCCI and MCA medical teams are closely monitoring Musheer’s progress. He is expected to be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and treatment once he is medically fit to travel. The estimated recovery time is six to eight weeks, effectively ending his participation in the Irani Cup.

Musheer was recently a standout performer in the Duleep Trophy, scoring a magnificent 181 for India B against India A in the tournament opener.

This unfortunate accident has cast a shadow over the young cricketer’s promising career, but fans and the cricketing fraternity are hopeful for a speedy and complete recovery.
