**LUCKNOW, INDIA:** Rising Mumbai cricketer Musheer Khan has been ruled out of the upcoming Irani Cup clash with the Rest of India after sustaining injuries in a car accident on Friday. The 19-year-old, who is the younger brother of Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan, was traveling with his father and two others on the Purvanchal Expressway when their vehicle crashed into a divider and overturned.
Khan, a promising batsman, is expected to be sidelined for at least 16 weeks due to the injuries sustained in the accident. This news comes as a major blow to the Mumbai team, who were hoping for the youngster’s contributions in the prestigious Irani Cup, which is set to take place in Lucknow from October 1-5.
Musheer, who made his First-Class debut in 2022, has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the domestic circuit. He amassed over 700 runs in nine First-Class matches, averaging over 50 with three centuries and a half-century. His performances in the U-19 World Cup earlier this year, where he scored 360 runs at an average of 60, and his crucial century in the Ranji Trophy final cemented his reputation as a rising star.
Known for his temperament and sound technique, Musheer showcased his abilities in the Duleep Trophy, where he scored a century on his debut. His impressive performances and potential have earned him the admiration of his peers and coaches alike, with his father Naushad Khan describing him as a “calm head on his shoulders” who can “change gears as per situation and conditions.”
While Musheer recovers from his injuries, the cricketing community wishes him a speedy recovery and looks forward to his return to the field.
